Raila Odinga Commissions Ksh 88.6 Million Nyangoro Maktau Water Project

On Friday, Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), commissioned the Ksh 88.6 million Nyangoro Maktau Water project in Taita Taveta County, a project funded by the European Union through the water sector trust fund.

The project, which will benefit more than 17,000 residents of Maktau area, is a collaborative effort between the European Union and the Taita Taveta County Government. The water sector trust fund contributed Ksh 77 million, while the county government contributed Ksh 11.5 million, equivalent to 13 per cent of the total project cost.

During the commissioning of the project, Raila made several promises to the residents, including affordable healthcare, free primary, secondary, and tertiary education, and a monthly six thousand shillings stipend to poor families.

Other politicians who accompanied Raila included Taita Taveta County Governor Granton Samboja, Taveta MP Naomi Shaban, and Mwatate MP Andrew Mwadime.

Raila's promises were echoed in a rally held in Mwatate, where he reiterated his commitment to improving the lives of the residents.

On Twitter, Raila expressed his gratitude to the people of Taita Taveta, saying 'Taita Taveta County asanteni. Tutarudi tena.' He also used the hashtags #OneLove and #Inawezekana.
