Directors of Three Companies Charged with Selling Counterfeit Masks Worth Sh11 Million

On diverse dates between December 30, 2020, and January 18, 2021, within Nairobi County, four directors in three companies allegedly conspired to sell counterfeit goods worth Sh11 million.

The companies, Johngray communication ltd, Davetronics Electronic ltd, and Real Time Co ltd, were accused of selling 20,000 pieces of '3' branded face masks without authority from the brand owner, 3M company.

Dr. Kimani Muthami, the director of Johngray communication ltd, was further accused of selling counterfeit face masks valued at Sh11 million.

Real Time Co, ltd and its director Lilian Awour were also found selling counterfeit face masks without authority from the brand owner on diverse dates between December 29, 2020, and January 6, 2021.

The company allegedly sold the face masks at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, while Davetronics Electronic ltd and its directors William Muthee and Sylvia Wambui committed a similar offence.

The five defendants denied the charges when they appeared before Milimani Senior Principal Esther Kimilu.

The court ordered them to deposit cash bail of Sh300,000 each to secure their release.
