January 13, 2022, marked a day of introspection for singer Akothee as she shared her thoughts on the high price of fame. In a candid post on her Instagram page, she revealed her regret over becoming famous, citing the loss of privacy and the strain on her personal life.

According to Akothee, some of her fans fail to understand the difference between her public persona and her private life. She yearns for a break from the constant attention and scrutiny that comes with being a celebrity.

"Is this really love or something I don't understand?" Akothee wrote, addressing her fans who insist on taking impromptu photos with her despite her pain and need for solitude. "Sometimes I am in pain and just pushing a little bit of life! Spare me the impromptu photos, please! I KNOW YOU LOVE EVIDENCE! NGOJENI KIDOGO. THE YEAR STARTED ON A ROUGH PITCH FOR ME! HATA NGUVU YA KUPIGA Picha SINA MTANISAMEHE."

As Akothee navigates the challenges of fame, she poses a question to her fans: "Aren't Kenyans the most snobbish people especially when it comes to ignoring celebrities on the streets?"
