On the night of January 10, 2022, an unknown group of individuals launched a petrol bomb attack on the home of Julius Gaya, the Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Karachwonyo Central in Homa Bay County.

According to Sarah Chumo, the Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) for Homa Bay County, the incident occurred at around 2:00 a.m. on Monday.

Fortunately, the bomb hit a store connected to the homestead, causing damage but sparing the politician's family.

Speaking to the media, MCA Gaya attributed the attack to his political opponents, stating, "I am a politician, my stand is known and my side is known to be in the lead. I believe that those who are not tolerant are not ready to accept the reality."

Before the attack, Gaya's dogs had alerted him, prompting him to investigate the cause of the alarm. He stepped out just as the bomb went off, and he saw a group of young men fleeing into the darkness.
