January 4, 2022, marked a significant day for KCB Football Club as they took the lead in the FKF Premier League. The team's impressive performance has seen them climb to the top of the log, leaving behind heavyweights like Tusker and Gor Mahia.

With 25 points after 12 rounds, KCB is tied with Kakamega Homeboyz but leads due to a superior goal difference of nine goals. Bandari follows closely in third place with 22 points, and a win in their upcoming game could see them join the top two on 25 points.

On the other hand, Gor Mahia is struggling to maintain consistency, having failed to win any of their last four matches. Their last victory came on December 9, 2021, when they defeated Vihiga Bullets 3-0. Since then, they have lost twice and drawn twice, leaving them seventh in the log with 19 points but with a game in hand.

Defending champions Tusker have also been struggling to hit the road running in the 2021-2022 season but seem to have found their missing gear in the last two games. Victory against Mathare United and Bidco United has propelled the brewers to 10th in the log with 16 points and two games in hand.
