On Thursday, Deputy President William Ruto addressed crowds in various stopovers in Vihiga County, where he emphasized the importance of the 2010 Constitution in eliminating imperial presidency.

According to Dr. Ruto, some individuals are planning to reintroduce imperial presidency through the backdoor, but he assured that Kenyans will resist such attempts.

“Some few rich people, out of arrogance think that they can sit in a certain hotel in Nairobi and appoint their puppet president to run the affairs of our nation and protect their interests and wealth,” Dr. Ruto said.

He noted that Kenyans are more enlightened now and want a government that can transform their lives, adding that voters are eager to elect leaders with plans and agendas that can benefit ordinary people.

Dr. Ruto also emphasized the importance of the Bottom-Up economic model, which he said is being embraced globally, including by US President Joe Biden.

He noted that 80% of Kenyans who thrive on Small and Medium Enterprises will be the biggest beneficiaries of the Bottom-Up economic model.

During his visit, Dr. Ruto extended an invitation to OKA leaders Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula to join forces with him ahead of the August elections.

He also urged his competitors to stop forming small tribal political parties, saying such schemes will be defeated by Kenyans.

Dr. Ruto's visit to Vihiga County was attended by several local leaders, including Hamisi MP Charles Gimose, who urged Dr. Ruto to team up with the two OKA leaders.
