Kenya's national sevens team Head Coach Innocent Simiyu has named a 14-player training squad for the Spanish legs of the World Rugby Sevens Series, with four players from the national 15's team, Kenya Simbas, included.

Published on January 6, 2022, the team is preparing for the Malaga and Seville Sevens tournaments, scheduled for 21st-23rd and 28th-30th January respectively.

Simiyu has selected fly-half Jone Kubu, who impressed during the Simbas tour of South Africa in November, along with John Okoth, Timothy Okwemba, and Derrick Ashihundu.

The coach has retained four players who featured in last year's Safari sevens tournament: Benson Salem, Arcadius Khwesa, Zedden Marrow, and Hannington Wabwire.

The team is currently training at the Kasarani stadium, having opened training on January 3.
