On January 6, 2022, two individuals, Tajinder Dhanjal from Kenya and Rolf Hartung from Germany, won Ksh100 million each in the Dubai Duty-Free Millennium Millionaire promotion.
The promotion, which has been running since 1999, has now seen a Kenyan win the top prize for the third time. Tajinder, a housewife and mother of two, has been participating in the promotion since 2002.
When asked about her win, Tajinder expressed her gratitude, saying, 'This is a real blessing from God, I cannot explain how much I appreciate this.'
Meanwhile, Rolf, a 67-year-old German national, was overjoyed by his win, stating, 'This is not only great joy but a great honor. I’m really surprised. I never thought that I would win one day. Thank you, Dubai. What a great start for the new year.'
The two winners are the first to take home the top prize in 2022, with previous winners receiving other prizes, including a Mercedes Benz S500. In 2021, the winner received Ksh1 million.
