January 6, 2022, Nairobi — The Director of Public Prosecutions' (DPP) Facebook account, which was hacked in November 2021, has been restored.

According to a tweet from the DPP's office, the account was restored after a brief outage, and users are once again encouraged to engage with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Kenya.

The hackers, who remain unidentified, renamed the DPP's Facebook account 'Fam Hâm Mộ Của QuanCon'.

The incident is the latest in a series of cyberattacks on government social media accounts, despite the launch of the National Computer and Cyber Crimes Co-ordination Committee (NCCCC) in November 2021.

The NCCCC, which includes representatives from security agencies and the Central Bank of Kenya, aims to combat cybercrime threats and ensure the country's safety in the ever-evolving digital world.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is still investigating the hacking incident.
