Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi arrived in Kenya on Wednesday evening, marking the beginning of his two-day visit to the East African country.
Wang was received at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa by Kenya's Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Raychelle Omamo.
During his visit, Wang will meet with President Uhuru Kenyatta to discuss the implementation of the outcomes of the 8th Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Ministerial Conference, as well as new measures for practical China-Kenya cooperation.
China's support for African countries in defeating COVID-19 and achieving economic recovery is also expected to be a key topic of discussion.
Wang will also join Kenyatta in inspecting a new oil terminal being constructed by China Communication Construction Company (CCCC) in Kenya.
The oil terminal is one of several development projects implemented in Kenya by China, including the completed 480-kilometer Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) linking Mombasa to Nairobi, and a 27.1-kilometer elevated Expressway in Nairobi.
Wang's visit to Kenya is part of his three-nation tour of Africa, which includes visits to Eritrea and Comoros.
