On January 4, 2022, Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria donated a heifer to Margaret Wanjiru, showcasing his commitment to supporting needy families.

As the Usawa Kwa Wote presidential candidate, Governor Iria has pledged to implement programmes that will transform the living standards of all Kenyans through social and economic empowerment.

He has proposed a model that will allow all needy students to join their preferred high schools, rather than being relegated to schools attended by students from wealthy families.

The Nyota Zetu scholarship concept has already enrolled 3,294 students from Murang'a's electoral wards over the past three years, and Governor Iria plans to roll out a similar initiative in the 47 counties if elected president.

"This will be a game-changer in the village as education is the key to social and economic empowerment more than the laughable promises being made to voters," Governor Iria said.

He also criticized the proposed Sh6,000 monthly stipend, calling it a 'big joke' and questioning the source of the funds.

Instead, Governor Iria has proposed an education intervention programme that will have a lifetime impact, enabling beneficiaries to help others out of poverty.

He also plans to donate heifers to poor families for money-making ventures, citing the success of the dairy cow programme in Murang'a, which has earned farmers over a billion shillings annually.

"The dairy cow programme which is successful in Murang'a, earning farmers in excess of a billion shillings annually at Sh40 per litre, will transform rural areas across the country," Governor Iria said.

He warned Mt Kenya residents against being misled by selfish individuals to insult President Uhuru Kenyatta, instead urging them to appreciate his 10-year tenure.
