When it comes to eating French fries, many of us are familiar with the etiquette of using our hands. This is a cultural norm in some countries, where the ideal way to enjoy French fries is to eat them one by one, as they are meant to be.

However, the reason why KFC and McDonald's are so particular about the potatoes they use is that they want to achieve a specific texture - stiff, straight, and dry. This is in stark contrast to the local njugu karanga, which is typically eaten in a different way.

So, the question remains: can Kinangop potatoes produce the same results as those used in KFC and McDonald's? The answer is a resounding no, unless perhaps some magic ingredient like Viagra is added to the cooking oil.

It's worth noting that some street food vendors in Kenya use unconventional ingredients to tenderize and sweeten their dishes, including panadols and transformer oil. This raises questions about the safety and quality of such food.
