Published on January 6, 2022, MPs have finally passed the contentious Political Parties Amendment Bill (2021) after a heated session marked by the rift between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
The Bill was passed on Wednesday night, at the start of a three-day special session, marking a significant victory for Raila Odinga's Azimio La Umoja.
MPs rejected the only amendment proposed by a loyalist of Deputy President William Ruto, which had initially passed, after it was recommitted.
