January 5, 2022, marked a medical breakthrough in the UK, where a nurse, Monica Almeida, made a miraculous recovery from a 28-day Covid coma after being administered a dose of Viagra as an experimental treatment.

Almeida, a 37-year-old nurse, was admitted to Lincoln County Hospital on November 9, 2021, after testing positive for COVID-19 on October 19, 2021.

Her condition rapidly deteriorated, and she was moved to an intensive care unit, where she was placed in an induced coma on November 6, 2021.

Just 72 hours away from having her ventilator turned off, Almeida's condition began to improve after medics gave her a large dose of Viagra on December 14, 2021.

According to reports, Almeida had signed a document before being placed in a medically induced coma to willingly take part in a study of experimental drugs.

After regaining consciousness, doctors revealed that they had given her the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra a week after being placed in an induced coma.

Almeida claimed that the drug caused her condition to improve, saying, 'It was definitely the Viagra that saved me. Within 48 hours it opened up my airwaves and my lungs started to respond. If you think about how the drug works, it expands your blood vessels. I have asthma and my air sacs needed a little help.'

She was finally discharged on Christmas Eve and was able to spend the holidays with her family, although her complete recovery is expected to take months.
