January 5, 2022, marked a significant day in the FKF Premier League as several teams took to the pitch to showcase their skills. One of the standout matches was between AFC Leopards and Nairobi City Stars, which ended in a 1-0 victory for Ingwe.
Maxwell Otieno's goal in the 46th minute proved to be the decisive factor, handing Leopards their third win of the season and propelling them to 13th place in the Premier League, five points clear of the relegation zone.
Leopards had been searching for a first win since December 9, 2021, when they defeated Posta Rangers 1-0, and this victory marked the end of their three-match winless streak.
At Ruaraka Grounds, Tusker secured a 2-1 win over Bidco United, thanks in large part to Tanzanian striker Ibrahim Joshua's late second-half goal. Shami Kibwana had given the brewers the lead just before the break, but Nelson Chieta restored parity in the 74th minute.
However, with 10 minutes left on the clock, Joshua emerged to seal all three points after scoring his fourth goal in two matches. This performance followed his impressive hat-trick in Tusker's 4-1 win over Mathare United in their last match of 2021.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia's poor form continued as they threw away a first-half lead to draw 1-1 with Nzoia Sugar at Sudi Stadium in Bungoma. George Odhiambo scored from the spot in the 20th minute, but Nzoia Sugar fought back to earn an important point through James Kibande's effort on the hour mark.
Elsewhere, Posta Rangers thrashed Wazito 4-1 at Kasarani, further highlighting the competitive nature of the FKF Premier League.
