As of January 5, 2022, Kenya's Covid-19 situation remains a concern, with 2,216 new cases reported in the last 24 hours.
Out of the 8,669 samples tested, 25.6% have turned out positive, bringing the total confirmed cases to 304,350.
According to the Ministry of Health, the new cases comprise 1,984 Kenyans and 232 foreigners, with 1,124 males and 1,092 females affected.
Notably, the youngest case is a two-month-old child, while the oldest is 105 years old.
Unfortunately, 3 patients have succumbed to the disease, all of whom were reported as late deaths after facility record audits in January 2022.
This brings the cumulative fatalities to 5,404.
On a positive note, 775 patients have recovered from the disease, with 578 from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program and 197 from various health facilities countrywide.
