January 5, 2022, marked a significant shift in the political landscape of Kirinyaga County as Purity Wangui Ngirici, the woman representative, distanced herself from Deputy President William Ruto's camp.

Ngirici, a key ally of Ruto, had been a vocal supporter of the Deputy President's 2022 presidential bid. However, it appears she has now changed her tune, ditching the UDA party symbols from her campaign vehicles and houses.

According to sources, Ngirici removed all UDA party symbols from her campaign trucks, including mini-vehicles and sound system trucks. The move is seen as a clear indication of her departure from Ruto's camp.

Furthermore, Ngirici repainted the gate wall of her Kerugoya-based private office, which had previously been adorned with UDA theme and symbols. The office had been converted into the UDA party county head office, housing activities associated with the Citizens' Conventional Party (CCP), a party once linked to Ngirici.

Ngirici's decision to remove UDA symbols from her campaign vehicles and houses is a significant development in the Kenyan political landscape. It remains to be seen how this move will impact her political career and her relationship with Ruto's camp.
