Published on January 4, 2022, Huawei Technologies has launched a massive initiative to train 1 million new ICT professionals in Africa, in collaboration with universities across the continent.

The ambitious target is part of Huawei's efforts to increase academia collaboration and advance the digital transformation of local industries.

Under the theme 'Connection, Glory, Future', Huawei has invited bright university students from 70 countries to participate in an intense assessment, where they will be tasked with designing and building innovative solutions on Huawei technological platforms.

The students will focus on addressing areas such as environmental protection and closing societal gaps with digital skills, using Huawei's Cloud and other technological platforms.

The program includes two tracks: the traditional Network and Cloud Track, and an Innovation Track that will challenge students' creativity.

With a target of training 700,000 skilled professionals by 2023, Huawei's annual ICT assessment will examine students for their ICT knowledge, practical skills, and innovation acumen.

The program has already shown success, with 350 students securing jobs over the last 5 years through talent placement.
