On January 14, 2015, the group received a certificate of lease for a 0.07ha plot in Kericho town, which they had purchased. However, in late 2020, they discovered that their lease had been registered under Mutai Hardware Stores Limited, sparking a dispute over ownership.
On December 28, 2020, the group held an emergency meeting at Kapkatet Stadium, but officials Eunice Cherotich, Sofia Chepkoech, and Grace Cherono, who are the chairperson, secretary, and treasurer, respectively, did not attend. The members learned that their societal name had been converted into a limited liability company without resolutions passed at their annual general meeting.

Justice Mary Clausina of the Environment and Land Court in Kericho has given the officials 30 days to file a defence in the case, which was filed by the members on November 30, 2021. If they fail to do so, the court will hear the case undefended.
The group, which was established in 1974 to eradicate poverty through real estate investments, is seeking to have their name reinstated as the sole owner and legal proprietor of the property. They are also seeking a declaration that the transfer of the property was fraudulent and an order to revoke and cancel the registration documents and titles.
