On Tuesday, January 4, One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals held a crucial meeting at Kalonzo Musyoka Command Center to discuss the status of their coalition.
According to sources, the meeting resolved to keep the coalition intact ahead of the August 2022 presidential election.
OKA, comprising four principals - Musalia Mudavadi, Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi, and Moses Wetangula - insisted that they will not disintegrate under pressure.
The principals also laid out a timeline for naming a presidential candidate who will carry the interests of the coalition.
They reiterated their earlier sentiments, emphasizing that OKA is strong and will not be intimidated by attempts to take over when President Uhuru Kenyatta exits.
During the meeting, Kalonzo and Mudavadi were asked to explain their recent dalliance with ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.
Details of the meeting emerged as Deputy President Ruto attended a football match hosted by Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala in Mumias, Kakamega county, where he stated, "I know Malala has been wondering why I arrived unannounced. Just know that there's a league that Musalia plays that you are not there yet. The permission I got was from Musalia Mudavadi, so don't worry yourself,"
OKA has suffered some major blows with some key figures ditching the coalition to join Azimio la Umoja affiliated to Raila. Among those who shifted their alliance include Lugari MP Ayub Savula and Godfrey Osotsi.
Already, OKA has resolved to forge ahead with the plan of fronting a presidential candidate amongst themselves.
