Wamalwa Criticizes Ruto's 'UDA' Party in Western Kenya

Waziri wa Ulinzi Eugene Wamalwa has criticized Deputy President William Ruto for ignoring new political parties in Western Kenya ahead of the August general election.

Speaking at Sipala Secondary School in Webuye East Constituency on Monday, Wamalwa said Kenya is a democratic country where every party should be allowed to promote its policies without any hindrance.

He also criticized Ruto for mobilizing locals to join his UDA party, saying this was a form of coercion.

“We want peaceful and respectful campaigns in Western Kenya and other areas as the general election approaches,” Wamalwa said.

He emphasized that every presidential candidate should be allowed to campaign in every part of the country without interference.

“We want every presidential candidate to come to Western Kenya and sell their agenda. However, they should do so in a peaceful manner. They should not insult the locals,” he said.

Wamalwa also took issue with Ruto's claim that his party, UDA, was the only viable option for locals, saying this was a form of intimidation.

“I want to tell those who are skeptical that when we formed New Ford-Kenya years ago, it was a small party. So, let them not intimidate us because this is just the beginning,” he said.

He added that New Ford-Kenya was formed with Ruto's involvement, while he was still with URP and President Uhuru Kenyatta was with TNA. However, the party grew and became a major force in Bungoma County, with Ken Lusaka now serving as the Senate Speaker.
