January 5, 2022, marked a significant milestone for Kenyans seeking non-surgical cosmetic procedures, as Dr. Maria Othieno Bayerl revealed plans to introduce such services in Nairobi.

Based in Bucharest, Romania, Dr. Othieno, an otorhinolaryngologist, aims to make aesthetic procedures readily available and affordable for Kenyans.

According to an interview with EveWoman magazine, Dr. Othieno plans to open a facility in Nairobi and work with local women, flying in with a team from Romania every four months to perform non-invasive facial aesthetic procedures.

Dr. Othieno specializes in procedures that enhance one's appearance with low-risk complications, including rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, botox, facial fillers, and contouring.

"The procedures I do do not alter appearance, they instead enhance one's looks and they are non-surgical. They promote a youthful appearance with minimal downtime and low-risk of complications," Dr. Othieno said.

Dr. Othieno's passion for her job lies in boosting the confidence of her patients, as she believes that cosmetic procedures can positively impact a person's self-esteem and outlook.

Originally from Pangani, Dr. Othieno completed her high school education at State House Girls School in Nairobi and later received a fully paid scholarship to study medicine in Romania.
