Kenya's Covid-19 Cases Surpass 300,000 Mark

On January 4th, Kenya's Covid-19 cases surpassed the 300,000 mark, with 2,402 new infections reported.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the cases were detected in 10,638 samples tested, bringing the total to 3,056,954. The country's positivity rate stands at 22.6 per cent.

Of the new cases, 2,098 are Kenyans, while 304 are foreigners. The youngest case is a two-month-old child, while the oldest is 104 years old.

Mr. Kagwe also announced that 1,982 patients have recovered from the disease, with 1,929 recovering from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program and 53 from various health facilities countrywide.

Sadly, seven patients have succumbed to the disease, with one death reported in the last 24 hours and six late deaths reported after conducting facility record audits in December 2021 and January 2022.

As of January 3rd, a total of 10,220,981 vaccines had been administered across the country, with 5,910,320 people partially vaccinated and 4,270,594 fully vaccinated.
