The platform, dubbed 'Wateja Mkononi,' is a mobile app developed by over 2,500 sex workers in the town.
According to Margaret Wamukuria, a sex worker's defender in Nyeri, the app will help the sex workers to boost their business and make a strong online presence.
Wamukuria, who works under the umbrella of 'Destiny Women Volunteers,' assured users of the app of a high level of personal security.
She noted, 'We have also ensured that the members strictly adhere to the policy of work only and do not engage in fishy activities like spiking clients' drinks.'
The sex workers in Nyeri enjoy an exclusive deal with local authorities, which prevents the occurrence of unnecessary arrests when practicing their craft.
Wamukuria added, 'In Nyeri, we have an elaborate plan with the security apparatus where we ensure that there are no arbitrary arrests of our members.'
