Charles Njonjo, the former Attorney General, left a lasting impression on Nairobi hotelier William Osewe, even after their first meeting in 2008.
Published on January 4, 2022, Osewe recalled that Njonjo visited his restaurant on Kimathi Street in Nairobi's Central Business District unannounced, ordering fish and insisting on carrying the food to his table.
‘He insisted on carrying the food to his table but I offered to help him carry a plate. We chatted for some time before he left,’ Osewe said.
Their subsequent meeting, accompanied by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and friends, marked the beginning of a close relationship between the two men.
Osewe sought Njonjo's assistance over personal issues, and the former Attorney General obliged, even going so far as to drive Osewe's car when his driver was delayed.
