NSE Daily Activity Declines by 39% to KSh 382.5 Million

On January 4, 2022, the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) reported a decline in daily activity, with equity turnover dropping to KSh 382.5 Million from the previous day's KSh 630.5 Million.

While the number of shares traded decreased to 9.5 Million from 17.6 Million, the number of deals rose to 799 from 763.

The NSE All Share Index closed at 169.24, up 2.14 points, while the NSE 20 Share Index closed at 1917.50, up 3.21 points. The NSE 25 Share Index gained 31.99 points to close at 3788.20.

The secondary bonds market saw a turnover of KSh 209.1 Million from 36 deals, compared to KSh 486.2 Million in 24 deals previously.

The derivatives market had 6 contracts worth KSh 137,280, up from 4 contracts worth KSh 118,280 previously.

Top Price Gainers and Losers

TransCentury led the top price gainers, rising 10% to KSh 1.32, followed by Olympia Capital, which gained 3.16% to KSh 1.96, and Housing Finance, which rose 2.63% to KSh 3.90.

The worst performers were Kapchorua Tea, down 9.55% to KSh 90.00, and NBV, which lost 9.51%.
