This archive report was first published on 4 January 2022.

Published on January 4, 2022, a group of workers in Nyamira County are calling for the resignation of Governor Amos Nyaribo.

The workers claim that removing the governor would make them eligible for promotions, as he is the main obstacle.

Speaking to the press, they stated that the county government failed to comply with a court order to promote over 1,000 employees.

Instead, the county government accepted the appeals of only four senior officials: Dan Onyancha, the head of public participation; Lewis Oburu, the head of payments; Douglas Osoro, the head of the public service management department; and Lamech Machuki, the county's planning officer.

However, this move has led some employees to criticize the head of payments, Mr. Oburu, and even call for Governor Nyaribo's resignation.
