Charles Mugane Njonjo, a stalwart of Kenya's early years, has left a lasting legacy. Born in 1920, Njonjo served as the country's Attorney General and a cabinet minister under founding President Jomo Kenyatta.
On January 2, 2022, Njonjo's family announced his passing at the age of 101 years, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Muthaiga, Nairobi.
As the only surviving member of Kenyatta's independence Cabinet, Njonjo's contributions to Kenya's history are immeasurable. His dedication to public service and commitment to the nation's development will be remembered for generations to come.
