On January 1, 2022, Everton announced the signing of Ukrainian defender Vitaliy Mykolenko from Dynamo Kyiv, marking the club's first signing of the January transfer window.
Mykolenko, 22, has impressed at both club and international level in recent years, and has now inked a four-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at Goodison Park until the end of June 2026.
Speaking to Everton TV, Mykolenko expressed his excitement about joining the club, saying: “Moving to Everton is a big and important step in my life. I have always dreamed of playing in the Premier League. English football is where the game was born and I think that it will suit my game very well.
Mykolenko brings a wealth of experience to the Toffees, having played for Dynamo Kiev in two Champions League campaigns and helping his side win the domestic league title in 2020/21. He has also won two Ukrainian Cups with Dynamo and has been capped 21 times for his country, featuring in the quarter-finals of Euro 2020.
Mykolenko will wear the No. 19 jersey for Everton and has stated that he feels a great responsibility to the club's incredible fans, whom he has seen in action at Goodison Park.
