As of December 31, 2021, travel to Kenya has been restricted to those with COVID-19 vaccination certificates, according to Uganda Airlines.

Uganda Airlines confirmed that entry into Kenya is only allowed for individuals who have been fully vaccinated and can provide evidence of their COVID-19 vaccination certificate.

Despite President Museveni's expected address on COVID-19 and the new year, the Omicron variant continues to spread, leading to increased infections and lockdowns, such as the temporary lockdown at Luzira Prisons.

Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng reported that only 15% of the targeted 22 million people have been fully vaccinated, with 44% having received the first jab.

President Museveni is expected to reinvigorate vaccination efforts and discuss the recent approval of COVID-19 booster shots and vaccine mixing for Ugandans, set to begin early next year for those above 50 and those with underlying conditions.
