On December 30, 2021, Willy Paul, a Kenyan musician known for his hit song Nimelewa, took to social media to express his frustration over a significant drop in his YouTube numbers.
According to Willy Paul, his YouTube numbers have been stagnant, failing to reach the 1 million view mark despite his recent songs trending on all social media platforms.
He alleged that a particular musician, who he refused to name, is behind the sabotage, citing envy as the motive. Willy Paul claimed that this musician has paid people to hack into his YouTube account and put locks on his videos, preventing them from reaching a wider audience.
"As you (fans) have noticed, my numbers have recently gone down, I hit 400K, 500k views, and it gets stagnant there, views hazipandi," Willy Paul ranted in a video.
He further warned his oppressors to remove the locks on his videos within 24 hours, failing which he would take further action.
Willy Paul's last song to garner over 1 million views was Lenga, a collaboration with Size 8, which was released five months ago. His recent songs have failed to reach an average of 350,000 views, a development he terms fishy.
Despite the setback, Willy Paul is set to release a new song called Atoti Jaber tomorrow, which he hopes will revive his YouTube numbers.
