July 8, 2019 - The Tanzania Football Association has parted ways with coach Emmanuel Amuneke following the team's dismal performance at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Amuneke, a former Super Eagles winger, was appointed head coach of the Taifa Stars in August 2018 and led the team to qualify for the 32nd edition of the continental championship for the first time in 39 years.

However, the team failed to pick a point at the competition, losing all three group matches against Algeria, Senegal, and Kenya in Group C.

According to a statement on the TFF website, the Tanzania Football Association and Amuneke have reached a joint agreement to terminate the contract between them.

Amuneke is the second manager to be sacked after Egypt boss Javier Aguirre, while Uganda coach Sebastien Desabre stepped down after crashing out at the knockout stage.
