On December 29, 2021, a heartwarming reunion took place at Istanbul airport, where Sylvia Mbithi, a 31-year-old Kenyan teacher, was reunited with her 59-year-old Australian fiancé, Richard, after two years of separation.

The couple met in Thailand in 2018, where Sylvia was working as a teacher for two years. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were unable to see each other physically.

Undeterred, Sylvia quit her job as a teacher in Thailand and traveled to Turkey to meet Richard, who had made the long journey from Australia. In an interview, Sylvia shared her joy and sacrifice, saying, 'I had to quit my job as a teacher in Thailand, traveled all the way to Turkey to meet him. Turkey was the easiest destination for us to meet.'

Richard's decision to leave everything behind to reunite with Sylvia was also a significant sacrifice, as she noted, 'Our reunion was the big sacrifice we both made; quitting a job for the sake of love is not easy, him leaving everything for us to reunite here was hard too.'

The couple is now planning their wedding and advises young people to put God first and be patient in their lives.
