On December 27, 2021, a deadly encounter between humans and hyenas occurred in Witeithie, an area in Juja, Kiambu County.
A 29-year-old man lost his life after being attacked by a group of about 20 hyenas in the Kamuthi area while on his way home from Komu quarry.
The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has since dispatched a multi-agency team of security personnel to handle the situation and prevent further attacks.
The team, comprising of the National Police Service, Kenya Wildlife Service, and local law enforcement agencies, aims to contain the dangerous predators and ensure public safety.
