On July 8, 2019, a dramatic scene unfolded at Ugunja Police Station in Siaya when a police corporal physically assaulted his senior sergeant.
The corporal, reportedly upset over allegations of indiscipline, attacked the senior sergeant who was seated under a tree at the station.
According to eyewitnesses, the corporal initially ignored his senior's accusations, but when the sergeant persisted, the corporal responded with a verbal exchange that escalated into a physical altercation.
It took the intervention of senior police officers to stop the fight, and members of the public were ordered out of the police station precincts.
Siaya County Police Commander Francis Kooli confirmed the incident, stating that disciplinary measures have been instituted and a team appointed to handle the matter.
"They quarrelled in public and the Sub-County Police Commander has instituted a disciplinary board to look into the matter. Action will be taken against anybody found culpable," Kooli said.
