On Christmas Eve, a funeral brought together two Nyamira County leaders who had been at odds just two months prior. Nyamira Senator Eric Okong'o Mogeni and West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi put aside their differences at the funeral of former Education officer Jasper Nyakoe in Kebirigo.

The two had clashed over local politics and tea sub-sector reforms, but their reconciliation was facilitated by the presence of other prominent leaders, including former Chief Justice David Maraga and his wife Eucabeth, Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, and North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko.

The funeral of Nyakoe, who was Maraga's cousin, provided a chance for the two leaders to mend their relationship. The reconciliation is a welcome development in the region, where political tensions had been running high.
