On December 24, 2021, the Ministry of East African Community and Regional Development announced the appointment of new leaders to key positions in the Lamu Port South-Sudan Ethiopia Transit Corridor Authority (LAPSSET) and the Tana and Athi River Development Authority (TARDA).
Stephen Ikua has been appointed as the new Director General of LAPSSET, effective January 14, 2022. Prior to his appointment, Ikua served as the head of the Kenya South-Sudan Liaison Office and Secretary Administration in the Ministry. With over 30 years of experience in the public sector, Ikua has played a crucial role in the conceptualization and design of the LAPSSET project.
Liban Duba has been appointed as the new Managing Director of TARDA, also effective January 14, 2022. Duba has extensive experience in public administration, human capital development, and project management. He has overseen several notable development projects, including the Korean International Corporation Agency (KoICA) – Government of Kenya (GoK) capacity enhancement project.
According to Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed, 'I congratulate both candidates for emerging as most suited to lead these critical organizations into the path of prosperity and wish them well.'
