December 24, 2021, Nairobi — In a bid to revitalize the hospitality industry, President Uhuru Kenyatta has launched the Nairobi Street Kitchen (NSK), a one-of-a-kind dining experience in Kenya.

Located on Mpaka Road, Westlands in Miritini, NSK brings together an eclectic collection of restaurants, bars, and entertainment spaces, setting the perfect mood for any occasion.

Speaking at the launch event, Group CEO of Simba Corp, Mr. Dinesh Kotecha, said, "We are extremely pleased to unveil the long-awaited innovative street food market. It is the first of its kind in Kenya as it incorporates a kaleidoscope of culinary adventure of 11 different cuisines including Mexican, South East Asian, Portuguese, Indian street food presented in fun, expressive and creative setting."

The President congratulated NSK for being innovative and creative, adding a unique culinary experience to the hospitality industry. The Ministry of Tourism is encouraging Kenyan destinations to market their experiences to the world.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife Tourism Research Report in 2020, the local tourism sector was severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in a significant drop in hotel demand and job losses. However, since August 2020, when international flights were reopened, the hospitality industry has been recovering.

The government is now encouraging tourism experiences like NSK to help the industry rise from the ashes and thrive again as restrictions are loosened up and the economy opens up.
