Covid-19 Cases Rise to 274,645 as Death Toll Hits 5,356

On December 23rd, 2021, the Ministry of Health announced 3,746 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the country's total caseload to 274,645.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the latest figure was derived from 11,537 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

As of December 22nd, 2021, Kenya recorded the highest number of vaccines administered on a single day at 205,948.

"We have surpassed our previous record of vaccinating 154,887 persons in a single day that was recorded on Monday, December 20th, 2021," said Kagwe.

Of the new cases, 3,542 are Kenyans and 204 foreigners, with 1,759 males and 1,987 females affected. The youngest case is a six-month-old child, while the oldest is 104 years old.

Health officials confirmed that 60 patients have recovered from the disease, with 59 recovering in various health facilities and one in the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Unfortunately, one patient succumbed to the disease, bringing the total number of fatalities to 5,356.

There are currently 554 patients admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 11,329 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.
