Kakamega Homeboyz stretched their unbeaten run to 10 matches after a narrow 1-0 victory over defending champions Tusker in a rescheduled Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega on December 23, 2021.

George Odiwuor's goal in the fourth minute proved to be the decisive factor, handing the Kakamega County-based side all three points and securing their seventh win of the season.

The win propelled Homeboyz to the top of the standings, opening a three-point gap with 24 points, and leapfrogging KCB who are second with 21 points.

Tusker, on the other hand, remained 12th in the standings with 10 points after losing their fourth match of the season, but they have two games in hand.

Homeboyz were in fine form heading into the game, having defeated record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia and were joint top in the log with KCB.

Tusker, however, had a rocky start to the season and were looking to build on a slim 1-0 win against Nzoia Sugar last weekend, with pressure mounting on veteran coach Robert Matano to guide the team back to the top.
