On December 24th to 26th, the city of Kisumu will come alive with a unique Christmas celebration, the Christmas Street Festival, which will be graced by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Organized by the County Government of Kisumu, the festival will take place along the city's major roads, including Oginga Odinga Street, Jomo Kenyatta Avenue, and Angawa Avenue.

On the first night, December 24th, Odinga and Governor Anyang' Nyong'o will launch the event by lighting the Christmas Tree at the Kenya Commercial Bank Roundabout at 8:00 PM.

The festival will feature a range of activities, including fireworks, gift-giving to the less fortunate, entertainment, and a 72-hour open economy for local businesses within the CBD triangle.

Residents and county officials are expected to attend the event, which aims to promote cultural diversity and provide a platform for businesses to network.

According to Abala Wanga, the Ag. City Manager, the festival will bring together all residents of Kisumu, stakeholders, and the business fraternity to celebrate togetherness and cultural diversity.

As part of the preparations, the County has issued a temporary notice prohibiting motorists from accessing the identified streets between Friday 2:00 PM to Sunday 3:00 PM to allow traders to showcase their wares and to ensure the smooth flow of the event.
