Cameroon Football Federation President Samuel Eto'o has dismissed claims that the AFCON schedule will be changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Published on December 23, 2021, Eto'o emphasized that the tournament will proceed as planned, despite calls from teams and clubs to postpone the games.

Teams had requested CAF to postpone the games due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the decision by European clubs to cancel their players' participation in the tournament.

However, Eto'o, a former player for Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Chelsea, has assured that his federation will work closely with the teams to ensure the tournament's success.

He also announced plans to build at least 19 new stadiums in Cameroon, which will host the tournament.

Eto'o, a four-time African Footballer of the Year, won the presidential election in Cameroon in 2021, defeating Seidou Mbombo Njoya.
