On December 23, 2021, a Milimani court magistrate, Zainab Abdul, dismissed a petition filed by Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua against Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and IEBC officials over alleged electoral irregularities in the 2017 general election.

Magistrate Abdul ruled that Karua failed to report the alleged vote-buying and bribery claims to the police, as required by law.

According to the court, Karua did not provide any evidence to support her claims that DPP Noordin Haji, IG, and DCI George Kinoti failed to investigate and prosecute the alleged perpetrators.

Karua had alleged that vote-buying took place at several polling stations, including Baricho Secondary School, Kang'aru Primary School, and Sagana.
