On a two-day trip to Tanzania, President Uhuru Kenyatta visited President John Pombe Magufuli's home in Chato, sparking a series of revelations about a secret pact between the two leaders.

According to President Magufuli, the pact had nothing to do with politics, but rather with the outcome of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations match between Harambee Stars and Taifa Stars.

Magufuli revealed that the two heads of state had agreed that the match would end in a 2-2 draw, but President Kenyatta reneged on the agreement, allowing Harambee Stars to beat Taifa Stars 3-2.

Magufuli jokingly said that President Kenyatta should have apologized for breaking the pact, but instead, Senegal avenged the loss by beating Harambee Stars 3-0 in their last group match.

During the visit, President Kenyatta was gifted with four peacocks that will be delivered to Kenya, and he reciprocated by stating that he would soon send his son, Muhoho Kenyatta, to Tanzania to try his luck in marriage.

Just days before President Kenyatta visited Tanzania, Starehe MP Charles Njagua aka Jaguar sparked diplomatic tension between the two countries with his xenophobic remarks.
