On July 5, 2019, a judge in King County, Washington, finalized the divorce between Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and his wife MacKenzie, marking the end of their 25-year marriage.

According to court documents, MacKenzie will receive a 4% stake in Amazon, valued at KSh 3.83 trillion (approximately US$ 38.3 billion), making her the 22nd richest person on earth.

Despite the costly divorce, Bezos, 55, retained a 12% stake in Amazon, valued at KSh 11.48 trillion (approximately US$ 114.8 billion), and remains the world's richest man alive.

Bezos and MacKenzie announced their intention to split in January 2019, but expressed optimism to continue working together as a family and cherish their friendship.

"We feel incredibly lucky to have found each other and deeply grateful for every one of the years we have been married to each other. If we had known we would separate after 25 years, we would do it again," the couple said in a joint statement shared on Twitter.

Bezos and MacKenzie have four children together and have been married for 25 years. The couple's divorce is one of the most expensive in history, with MacKenzie set to receive a significant portion of Bezos' wealth.
