Published on December 22, 2021, Kenya's national 3x3 basketball teams are gearing up for their debut at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham City, UK. The teams have scheduled training sessions abroad to prepare for the games.

According to Kenya Basketball Federation Vice President Hilmi Ali, both men and women teams will have an intensive training session in Europe. The teams will play several international build-up matches before traveling to the UK for the games.

Kenya earned automatic entry into the Commonwealth Games, which are slated for July in Birmingham City, United Kingdom, thanks to their rankings. The country is the second-best placed in Africa after Egypt, which is not a member of the Commonwealth nations.

Ali stated that they are planning to play teams in France, Latvia, Serbia, or Romania. The goal is to be title contenders at the Commonwealth Games, not mere participants.

Kenya's 3x3 teams made their worldwide competitive debut at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, where 20 countries participated. The teams will be trimmed to eight players each before the naming of the final squad of four players each.

Additionally, Ali announced that Kenya will bid to host the 2022 Africa Zone Five Under-23 games in May.
