On December 21, 2021, a Kenya Railways train carrying over 200 passengers stalled on its way to Kisumu, sparking concerns among travelers and social media users.

According to an official statement from the Kenya Railways Corporation, the train encountered a logistical hitch caused by heavy rains in the Muhoroni area.

"We wish to inform the public that the Kisumu-bound train encountered a slight hitch occasioned by the heavy rains that earlier pounded the Muhoroni area," the statement read.

Despite the initial setback, the Kenya Railways team managed to resolve the issue, and the train continued its journey to Kisumu.

The train was making its second trip to the lakeside city after rail services resumed in the line following the rehabilitation of the line.

The incident occurred at around 6 pm when the train was negotiating a sharp corner.
