Manchester United's first-team squad has been dealing with a Covid-19 outbreak since last week, forcing the postponement of their English Premier League matches against Brentford and Brighton.

However, the players have now returned to training at Carrington on a staggered basis, with the complex reopening on Tuesday, 21st December.

According to the club, this will give interim manager Ralf Rangnick and his squad time to prepare for their next fixture, the Premier League meeting with Newcastle United at St James' Park on Monday, 27th December.

Among the players who showed up for training were Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard, Mason Greenwood, Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw, and Fred.

It's worth noting that the Premier League announced on Monday, 20th December that it would continue with its schedule despite widespread coronavirus outbreaks, which forced the postponement of six league matches last weekend.

Manchester United are currently sixth in the Premier League table, having played 16 matches, and are scheduled to face Burnley on Thursday, 30th December, after meeting with Newcastle next Monday.
