On Tuesday, 21st December, Kenya recorded 2,844 new Covid-19 cases from a sample size of 10,215 tested in the last 24 hours.

Published on 21st December 2021, the total number of confirmed cases in the country now stands at 267,571 from a cumulative test of 2,943,979 conducted since March last year.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe confirmed the new cases, stating that 2,561 are Kenyans while 283 are foreigners.

According to Kagwe, the youngest case is a one-month-old child, while the oldest is aged 98.

Of the new cases, 159 patients have recovered, with 82 being from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program and 77 from various health facilities.

Unfortunately, one patient has succumbed to the disease, pushing the cumulative fatalities to 5,354.

There are 404 patients currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 6,339 are under the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

Some 19 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 11 of them on ventilatory support while eight are on supplemental oxygen.

Another 83 patients are on supplemental oxygen and 79 of them are in the general wards. Four patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

As of 20th December 2021, a total of 9,057,426 vaccines had been administered across the country. Of these, 5,397,849 were partially vaccinated while those fully vaccinated were 3,659,577.
