Uhuru Nominates Elizabeth Muchiri for SRC Seat

On December 21, 2021, President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated Elizabeth Muchiri to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission as a representative of the National Police Service Commission.

Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi referred the nomination to the Finance Committee for consideration.

The committee is expected to update the house within 28 days, with a report due on January 25, 2022, when the House resumes.

Separately, the National Assembly approved the nomination of Caroline Naikena and Thomas Okoth Oyier as members of the Gender and Equality Commission following a departmental team vetting.

They will now await appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The National Assembly also approved Ambassador Anthony Mwaniki Muchiri’s qualifications after President Uhuru Kenyatta nominated him for the position of Public Service Commission Chairperson.

Currently, Muchiri is Kenya’s ambassador to Cuba.

He emerged victorious in the interview exercise that took place between November 10 and 11, 2021, after 99 people applied for the position, including 73 men, 26 women, and two persons with disability.
